I have a large library of needlepoint books. Lots of them are from the 1970's needlepoint heyday. Many are new. What do you your needlepoint books for? Which are your favorites? Why? If you were going to help someone learn needlepoint which book would you use?

I also have a huge library of needlework books. And like you, most were acquired in the 70s & 80s.
The ones I use the most:
Christensen's The Needlepoint Book for stitches.
Pageant of Pattern by Lantz for stitch patterns.
A Background Stitch Reference Book by the Goldlen Gate Canvas Workers Chapter of ANG for stitches & stitch patterns.
Then there are the Bargello books:
Columbia-Minerva's Bargello Florentine Needlepoint, Punto Fiamma (Italian, but great photos & diagrams) and The Bargello Embroidery Book from Coats. I use these 3 for Bargello pattern ideas.
I also use the Jean Hilton books (all of them) for studying Hilton stitches.
