Painted Stitches Finished

PS02 Painted Stitches Sampler Frame Finished

This stitcher changed the thread colors on PS02 Painted Stitches 6x6 and added a checkerboard border . She had it finished as a small frame. I love it when needlepoint is changed and altered to fit the stitcher's personality!

I worked up a design for the Needlepoint Basket Purse. I’m going to stitch it with Vineyard Merino with some highlights stitched with Silk Lame’ Braid. I charted the monogram from Tink’s Marvelous Monograms– vol. 1 Monogram #16 HexTriple34. I’m using the Diagonal Scotch Stitch, Scotch Stitch, Mosaic Stitch, Rice Stitch, Staircase Stitch and Basketweave Tent Stitch. I’ll keep you posted!

Finished Tote Bags!

PS02 Painted Stitches Sampler Finished PS04 Painted Stitches Ladybug Finished

I just got the Painted Stitches Sampler tote bag & Painted Stitches Ladybug tote bag back from the finisher. It's so rewarding to imagine a design, choose decorative stitches, decide on colors, paint it, pull threads and specialty threads, needlepoint it, and then see it in its final finished form.

Simply Finished

Sometimes a needlepoint piece calls for a simpler look. I had this pillow redone in royal blue velvet to highlight the saying and frame the decorative stitches.

Fabric First

S04 Lemons-Bra Border

When choosing a needlepoint project there are so many choices available today. Where to start? First find a canvas you love! Next I think, how will it be finished? If it will be a pillow or framed with a fabric mat I try to find the fabric before I pull threads. It is always easier to match threads to fabric rather than find fabric to match your finished piece.

Finishing Ideas

I’m always looking for great ways to finish a needlepoint canvas. I like my needlepoint to be fantastic and functional. This is a post from Ruth Schmuff’s It's Not Your Grandmother's Needlepoint:

It's an ornament... It's a box.... It's just cool!

Okay, so the question is what else can you do with an ornament sized odd shaped canvas other than make it into another ornament? What if you want to enjoy it year round? Well, you can applique it to just about anything. Jeans, jackets, purses, totes.

Why not take it a step further and applique it to a box top. That's exactly what we did.

One of my dearest customers called me and said, she had finished stitching my "Stitch Ornament" but she didn't know what she wanted to do with it. She didn't want it to be an ornament. She wanted a box. She had antique thread spools from a friend of hers and they were to be the feet. That's where we started. Creativity took us the rest of the way. Here's the results. I hope you enjoy it as much as we are.

Finished Needlepoint 2

I received this comment yesterday. “Wow, don't they all look great! I'm intrigued by HC03 - what is that? And I would really like to see CP10 close up - it looks like a box, right? But it looks as though it has some delicious texture and the colors are lovely.”

Stirling Needlepoint Cases

Stirling_needlepoint_cases

These just came back from the finisher! I love these Stirling Needlepoint Cases. The large tote has a very wide gusset and my project box fits in perfectly. The small case holds all those extras I always need and would be perfect for a small project. The leather colors are beautiful!! I’ll be adding more canvases to my line soon to fit these great cases.

BeadPoint Coin Purse Finished

Beadpoint_coin_purse

Here is my BeadPoint (vs. needlepoint) coin purse finished. Everyone that sees it says, “I can’t do that it looks too hard.” BeadPoint is easy! If you can stitch the continental needlepoint stitch you can BeadPoint. I recommend starting with a small project so you have a quick success. It’s a great 2 hour workshop for a Needlepoint Shop.

Needlepoint Bridge Cube

BridgecubeMs7bridgecubeI love functional needlepoint! My sister, Sarah, came up with this idea. Her bridge group is always wondering who is vulnerable. She made this cube out of card board and I converted it to needlepoint. Just flip the cube to the proper vulnerability and place it in front of the dealer. You always know who dealt too! Here is the stitched sample! It is weighted so it won’t roll off the table. Bridge Cubes are available at Barbara Bergsten Designs.

Needlepoint Flip Flops

Needlepoint_eliza_b_blackNeedlepoint_eliza_b_pinkI just got my new Voila Eliza B needlepoint flip flops back from being finished. Any belt canvas works. You’ll need to needlepoint the full 36” to magically turn a belt into these adorable flip flops! I love them. They are really comfortable right out of the box. Be sure to look at the sizing chart, they run small. The black pair is from an Elizabeth Turner Collection belt canvas, the pink pair is from a Barbara Bergsten Designs belt canvas.

It’s Finished!

One of the greatest joys of needlepoint is seeing the finished project. This is especially gratifying when I have designed and painted the needlepoint canvas. Here are a few newly finished items! I love them!!

Fabric before Threads

MoneypillowThis pillow is a perfect example of picking the finishing fabric before choosing the threads for a needlepoint project. Try to think “finishing” at the beginning of your next project. Beautiful creation, Anne and Anthony!
