Idea to Needlepoint Canvas
I recently finished designing a series of canvases inspired by Staffordshire Cottages. They are Money Boxes, Spill Vases or Pastille Burners and very collectible. I was drawn to their size, shape and colors. I found the group of cottages I wanted to convert to needlepoint and resized them to 5” tall, a good size for standups, purse or pillow inserts, or framing.
Then I traced and adapted the cottages to #14 canvases. Stitch painting them brought each design to fruition. I’m stitching Cottage 6 now. Jean is helping me with threads and stitches. I’ll share my progress.

Stitching Groups
Yesterday I was at Wool & Willow Needlepoint Shop and realized the benefit of stitching in a group. I’m slowly working on my Staffordshire Cottage. I was stuck and scared to finish a new stitch. I didn’t want to make a mistake, but most of all I didn’t want to rip out any work. Jean, Joan and Anne were very encouraging about the work so far. (It really is taking shape) Jean finished a couple of stitches and all of a sudden I had the courage to go on. Later in the day we all helped choose fabric for a project. The Wool & Willow has a Lunch Bunch every Thursday at Noon. I encourage you all to bring your stitching to your local shop. It’s usually free and an invaluable resource!
Stitches and Threads make all the Difference

Staffordshire Cottage 6 is finished. Today it will be sent to the needlepoint finisher and will become a stand up! We picked some great fabric for the back and I’m anxious to see the finished product. I’m amazed how a cute little needlepoint canvas transforms into such an interesting piece of stitched work. Painted Canvas to Finished Creation

Staffordshire Cottage 6 has returned from the finishing service! I couldn’t be more pleased with the finished needlepoint Staffordshire Cottage. Below I’ve recapped the photos and blogs that brought this idea to realization. I never dreamed my initial idea would become this adorable needlepoint stand up! Thank you to all!
